Switching provider

Moving your website and email to NovaNode.

Overview

Domain, website, email

Domain
It can stay at your current registrar: you only add the records shown in your client area, a CNAME for the website and MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC for mail. Or you transfer it to us; the transfer page has the steps.
Website
NovaNode Sites is a website builder, not a file hosting space, so an existing site is not imported as files. You rebuild it from a ready-made design in the editor, or you send us your texts, photos or current website and we set it up for a quote.
Email
Order a mail plan, create the same addresses, and run the migration tool in your client area with the server and login details of each old mailbox. It copies the mail into the new mailbox, folders included.

Procedure

Five steps, with the current provider kept running

  1. Order and activation

Sites is active right away. Every Mail order is checked by hand first, usually within hours, at most five business days; order it first so the check runs while you prepare the rest.

  2. Set up the new site and mailboxes

Build the pages and create the addresses while the old provider still serves everything.

  3. Copy the mail

Run the migration tool for each mailbox. Mail keeps arriving at the old host until you change the MX record, so do the copy as close to the switch as you can.

  4. Change the DNS records

Add the CNAME, MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records from your client area at your DNS provider. If your provider lets you set the TTL, lower it a day in advance; changes then take effect faster.

  5. Keep the previous account for a few days

Some mail servers cache DNS for a day or two. Cancel the old provider once nothing arrives there any more.

FAQ

Questions about switching

Not if the mailboxes exist at NovaNode before you change the MX record. While DNS propagates, a message lands on whichever server the sender sees, and both are yours.

Not as files: NovaNode Sites is its own editor. We can set up the site for you from your current pages, texts and images; contact us for a quote.

No. Point it at NovaNode with the records from your client area and keep the registrar you have. If you want everything in one place, the transfer page explains the steps.

A few hours to five business days. Before activating, we may ask what the mailboxes will be used for, or for verification. If we decide not to provide the service, the mail plan is refunded.

Every order is governed by our Terms of Service. The product sections in it set the limits that matter in practice, such as what unlimited traffic means and when a plan is no longer suited to a workload.

Terms of Service Privacy Policy Data Processing Agreement

Prices All prices are in euro. The switch in the top bar shows them with or without VAT. Consumers pay 17 % Luxembourg VAT; businesses with a valid EU VAT number outside Luxembourg are invoiced without VAT under the reverse-charge mechanism; Luxembourg businesses pay 17 %. Prices and plan contents can change; the price shown in the client portal at the time of ordering applies.

1 VPS traffic VPS plans include unlimited ordinary traffic under the fair use policy in section 5.2.5 of the Terms of Service. The following monthly volumes are reference levels, not quotas: exceeding one is not a breach and does not trigger a charge by itself. Sustained use well above a reference level that affects the network or other customers may lead to a review and, where needed, an upgrade proposal or traffic management. The network port is shared; a displayed port speed is a maximum, not a guaranteed throughput.

Domains Domain prices are per year and per extension. Registration, transfer and renewal rules differ per registry; the expiry date and conditions shown in the client area apply. For consumers, the right of withdrawal ends once the domain has been registered with the registry (Terms of Service 8.7).

Websites Plan limits (websites, pages, storage, blocks) are listed in the comparison table. After a downgrade, content above the new limits must be reduced before publishing again. Your site runs on your own domain via a CNAME record you set yourself.

Email Storage is one shared pool per plan. Every order is reviewed before activation (Terms of Service 8.1.11, 8.2.2); we may ask for information or verification (8.1.11) and may decline (8.1.10), in which case the mail service is refunded. Spam leads to immediate termination (5.3.1).
